Welcome back, Rush! Let me be one of the first to welcome the class of 2013! Make sure you guys register for the website as soon as your Rush email is working and don't forget to join the Class of 2013 group when you register. No worries if you forget though, since you can always join later.
Since we've added a bunch of great new features over the summer, I'm going to go ahead and do a brief tour that will introduce everyone to the exciting stuff now available on our website. RMstudents really has a lot to offer students in many areas of life at Rush. Read More »
There is no real formal leadership in RMstudents. We only have a few members, and we lead as equals. Nevertheless, these are our active members:
If you'd like to join, shoot one of us an email or contact via email: admin at rmstudents dot com.
Finally! Our website got a much-needed upgrade to Drupal 6. This has been a long time coming, but we didn't want to upgrade before knowing that all of the features we currently have implemented would work flawlessly. We've done a fair amount of checking to make sure that's the case, but just in case we missed something, leave a comment or use the Contact Form to let us know. In addition to keeping all of our old features, there's a few new ones that we have in store over the coming weeks and months. We look forward to showing them to you once they're perfected. Thanks again for your support and happy browsing from the RMstudents team!
Due to the problems we were having with our old webhost, we decided to move the website. We apologize for the extended down time, but we're hoping that this new host will be much better for us. You may experience a few intermittent problems over the next day or two as "the web" starts pointing "rmstudents.com" towards our new host. After that, hopefully things should be smooth sailing. Let us know if you're having any unexpected problems.
As many of you may have noticed, this website is spitting out strange error messages at the top of the page quite often. Also, we're getting (way too frequent) occasions where our site can't properly connect to its database. This is because we're currently having an issue with our web host, which we hope will resolve itself soon. If not, we will be migrating web hosts in the near future (although probably after midterms). Please bear with us during these messages and errors. Understand that we're doing our best to fix the problem in a timely manner. We hope that you will continue to use this site despite the errors, and we apologize for any inconveniece they cause you. Please bear in mind that they seem to follow no rhyme or reason, so if you're writing up something to post on here, please back it up before you submit it (just in case something does not go through). Thanks a lot, and we'll keep you informed!
To anyone looking to purchase a new flash drive (such as new M1s), Kingston has some on sale for pretty cheap. I just thought I'd let everyone know.
This page will help you get started with accessing lecture recordings at Rush. This program is run by RMstudents and sponsored by the OMSP.
If you are looking for lecture recordings, they are not available at RMstudents.com for legal reasons. To access them, you must log in to WebCT. Lectures are available in WMV format. For Windows users, this means that you'll need to have the latest Windows Media Player installed in order to view the videos. For Mac users, unfortunately you will need to install Windows Media Player for Mac. We realize that there are other work-arounds available to view WMVs on a Mac (such as using the Flip4Mac plugin for Quicktime), however the last we heard they are not compatible with the latest Windows Media audio codec, which is what the audio is encoded with on Camtasia (our recording software). If this has changed, let us know, but otherwise you're stuck installing WMP for Mac. We may switch to an alternative format in the future, but this has not been decided yet.
If you are having problems viewing a specific lecture or are wondering why a lecture has not been uploaded yet, please first try to contact the person in charge of recording that class. Read More »
Added Blueprints OB/GYN 2003, modified a few things, like the cervical cancer screening guidelines, which were recently changed since '03. Some new items: Psychiatric diagnoses (concise DSM criteria), teratogenic medications (pretty comprehensive overview), cerebral ischemia regions, etc.
Does your group have a new set of leaders, like new steering committee members? Do you want them to take control of your group's page on RMstudents? If so, here are some instructions. Are you a new leader in a group and just realized it's not represented on the RMstudents.com website? If so, why not take a few minutes and do it?
Modifications in Revision 2: Corrected huge mistake with acid-base compensatory equations under Nephrology, Pathophysiology. Checked over with Pocket Medicine. Other small additions: Child's classification system for ascites, etc.
My Palm Memos are still here.

Hello all,
For my fellow classmates, I have decided to release my Palm Memos, a sprawling medical info database of almost 270 text files that contains the entire syllabus contents, heavily edited and supplemented, of Pathology, Pathophysiology, Microbiology, Psychopathology, Statistics, as well as many excerpts from 5 Minute Consult, Up to Date, First Aid, Step Up to Medicine, and countless other textbooks and resources, all easily accessible and searchable on the Palm Pilot.
For people who are having questions about lecture recordings, they should be up to date online on WebCT as of today (actually they have been up to date for a while). Lecture recordings are not hosted on RMstudents.com. For future reference, Jonathan Blackhall is in charge of Biochem and Ross Rozycki is in charge of Anatomy. Please contact either of us with questions about recordings for a specific course. We can be found in the NotesMail address book. Read More »
Welcome to RMstudents.com. First and foremost, if you're looking for content from the old version of this site, it can be found in some form here: http://old.rmstudents.com . (I apologize for the somewhat broken pages. They're part of the moving process and we're working on resolving it) If you've got a question, comment, concern, or idea, let us know (admin {at} rmstudents {dot} com for unregistered users)! There will be much more information on how to start using this new site in the next few weeks. Enjoy and we hope to see you back!
Please leave comments!
Gotta love em, right? I've been wanting a statistics module for Drupal since I started using it. Turns out there was one built in and I just had to enable it correctly. Now there's plenty of statistic-y goodness on RMstudents. You should see "X Read(s)" at the bottom of each post to let you know how popular it is. This may be more useful in the future, such as for a sidebar block with a list of the most popular posts. More upgrades to come after finals.
By looking at the logs over the past few weeks, I have noticed quite a few users are having trouble remembering what their password is. After attempting to log in a few times, they use the "Request new password" feature to reset their password. No big deal, except maybe some frustration for you. If you'd like to avoid that, keep reading. Read More »
Congratulations to the Emergency Medicine Interest Group for being the first student group to join RMstudents after our meeting. We hope more groups will be following suit after finals are over!
Anyone out there a graphic designer? We could definitely use some graphics for the RMstudents website. We could use a nice graphic for our header (next to RMstudents Technology meets medical education, above). Max size would probably be 120x120 px for that. We could also use a custom favicon (bookmark icon) since we're currently using Drupal's default logo. This would be 16x16 px in GIF format. If you're a graphic designer of any sort, play around and see if you could come up with something we could use. We'd really appreciate it. My (poor) example is attached. Tushar mentioned that we're like a Technology Interest Group (TIGR) so I made a green and white tiger.
I see they finally put up a new version of the medical college website. They've 301 redirected to their new address. Hopefully their next step is to work on their URL rewrite engine so the page displays as http://www.rushu.rush.edu/medcol/ or something and not:
Sheesh
. Seems like that could raise security issues. Ah well they're making progress, I guess.
