Rush University Health Insurance
All M1’s and M2’s must have the Rush University Health Insurance
The insurance we have is a PPO through the CCN network (Collegiate Risk Management). All I will say is that the coverage is decent. If you want to hear more just ask any of the M2’s. Here are some tips you may want to use in order to survive probably one of your first times without your parent’s sweet insurance plan.
· Be really, really, really, really, ridiculously patient
· Don’t pay anything until you are absolutely certain you have too. You will receive a notice from the insurance company (CRM Inc. on the top of the bill), saying what services were given first. A few weeks later you will get an actual bill from the doctor’s office, hospital or ER saying what you really owe.
· Payments can be slow, and the customer service people may annoy you, but like I said…patience. The Dean’s office is always available to help work through a bill…I know from experience.
· There will now be add-ons for the pharmacy, vision, and dental which are worth getting if you use them a whole lot.
· The newly covered things include skin lesion removals, birth control for the ladies and hernia repairs for the guys…you never know…seriously!
Student Health Service Program
Rush has a Student Health Service supported by Lifetime Medical Associates. This gives us access to quick acute health care, and is designed to work with the Rush Health Insurance.
Some advantages include the following:
· Acute office visits to Lifetime will cost us a $20 visit fee instead of 20% of the bill
· Lifetime is located on the 2nd floor of the Teamster Building, on the corner of Jackson and Paulina just across 290. (right above Moretti’s sports bar).
· The Student Health Service will cover TB test updates, and the costs associated with maintaining documentation for immunization compliance.
· All students will be covered under a blood and bodily fluids exposure rider. This will cover any treatment or meds needed due to a needle stick, splash or potentially contagious disease exposure.
